About Countdown

A countdown is just the difference between now and a future moment, refreshed every second. The calculator takes your date (and optionally a time), works out the gap in your device's local time zone, and splits it into whole days, then hours, minutes and seconds.

Method: remaining seconds = target − now; days = ⌊seconds ÷ 86,400⌋, with the remainder divided into hours (3,600 s) and minutes (60 s).

If the date has already passed, the counter flips to show how long ago it was, so the same tool works for anniversaries and "days since" streaks. Times are local: someone in another time zone will see a different number of hours until the same event.

Common questions

How is the countdown calculated?
It takes the difference between now and the target date and time in your local time zone and breaks it into days, hours, minutes and seconds.
What if the date has already passed?
The calculator switches to showing how long ago the date was, so you can also use it to count time since an event.
