About Age

Your age in years, months and days is a calendar calculation, not a division. The calculator counts whole years up to your most recent birthday, then whole months from that birthday, then the remaining days — so it stays correct across leap years and months of different lengths.

Method: step forward from the date of birth in whole months while staying on or before the target date, then count the leftover days. The total-days figure is a straight count of calendar days between the two dates.

If you were born on 29 February, the calculator treats 28 February as your birthday in non-leap years (some countries use 1 March instead). Change the "age on" date to work out your age at any past or future date — a school cut-off, a retirement date, or a historical event.

Common questions

How is age calculated?
Whole years are counted from your birth date to the last birthday before today, then whole months from that birthday, then the remaining days. Leap years are handled by working with real calendar dates.
Can I calculate age on a date other than today?
Yes. Change the "age on" date to any past or future date, for example a school entry cut-off or a retirement date.
